Gratitude

March 2021

“I appreciate you” – this was the reply from our postal carrier when I thanked him for delivering letters to the front door. A momentary comment with resonate vibration. It was the first time I experienced such an exchange that has since inspired me for several weeks now. What do we mean when we appreciate someone? To me, it means acknowledging a person’s rightful presence and affirming their fullness of divine blessing. The spirit of this phrase is moving with an easy grace. I have respectfully adopted it for my own accord and encourage others to do the same. It is enriching and soulful.

I thus feel called to raise the sentiment of gratitude. I honor it has been a tough year for many, some more than others, but I am entrusted with a loving family and supportive network that has walked with me during a time of transition. I am learning to embrace my shortcomings and have become more diplomatic with an overly earnest leaning. I am this way because I care but sometimes it is too forceful or not needed to achieve a generally acceptable result. More to be done here but clarity leads to a constitution settled with spiritual center. I also wrestle with releasing the entanglements of ego. This is the advice of many a wise voice.

The complexities of the world are certainly important as a matter of civic function but knowing one’s priorities is an enviable facilitator of personal direction. I do not mean to caste overly romantic statements of faith but having the opportunity to face your purpose can be an exercise in unfolding belief. It can easily be said having time for reflection is a luxury. But what does one do when fate has already laid the groundwork through unforeseen events related to career, health, or personal loss? My answer has been reaching for God’s communion and what a joy the evident response has been! As the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic slowly lifts over the coming period, my community ask is to make personal time for examining priorities. This can be in private or through trusting collaboration. Seek the majesty of nature and savor time as your greatest gift. Challenge yourself to address the unanswered prompts and intuitions. Be a resource to others, provide comfort and counsel. Have the courage to receive the same. My hope is the answers already reside within.

For the Kingdom,

Christopher
